Club History
The club was founded in 2002 and is finishing their 1st year as an IOM sailing club. The founding members of Sabal Pine Model Yacht Club belonged to another Club that
sailed one design boats such as the Seawind and Soling. When the IOM class was introduced to the club many of the members sold their one design yachts and switched
to the IOM class.
The members that sailed the IOM class decided to start their own AMYA sanctioned Club. Our club is known as
Sabal Pines Model Yacht Club (#106).
The Club started with just a handful of members and now has 24 active members. We sail every Saturday at 10am at Sabal Pine Park located in Coconut Creek FL.
The IOM class yachts are like little rocket ships. They sail very fast and are very responsive. A leisurely sail will most likely end up in a race even
if not intended. The club holds organized races complete with count down clock and believe it or not RULES.
We have members that live in the North but come to South Florida to escape the cold, so we do have a larger fleet in the winter months. We welcome all skippers that
are interested in R/C Sailing.
Did you forget to jot down the Directions to the pond? Please get them and meet us because we sure would like to meet you. Interested
in seeing what our Members sail? Need to see the Frequencies that are being used? Would you like to see some of our favorite Web sites? Miss the
Club Photos's? Did you need to get back to our Home page?

Need to brush up on the Rules Lester Gilbert has them. If you'd like to start with just
the very bare essentials, try the "10 rules" page.
