Member Frequencies

Surface Channels International sailors should check their local radio frequency use. Common Surface Use radios in the US are 27 MHz and 75 MHz. The 50MHz and 53MHz bands require FCC licensing. The 72MHz band (not listed) is only for aircraft use. The following is chart of frequencies currently available for surface model control use in North America. Each frequency is in MHz and is preceded by the corresponding channel number. 75 MHz (Surface)

Members that sail IOM's will have preference for frequencies issued on 75MHz. This means that a member that does not sail an IOM or have a boat may lose his frequency when all channels are taken OR a new member needs a channel to sail an IOM. Members in RED are in conflict.

NOTE: A valid Amateur Radio Operators License is required to own and operate equipment on the 50 & 53 MHz frequencies. All frequencies in the 72MHz band are for the exclusive use of model aircraft (Channels 11 through 60). All frequencies in the 75MHz band are for the exclusive use of surface models such as cars and boats (Channels 61 through 90).
